The world's stiffest fret wire material is 316L stainless steel.
The "L" after 316 means "the low-carbon content of stainless steel." 316L stainless steel has all the desirable properties of 304CU stainless steel.
By adding an extra 2% molybdenum and 2% more nickel content, 316L stainless steel is able to withstand stronger corrosion and wear resistance, while maintaining a brighter color and smoother surface.
Our 316L stainless steel, the second generation of stainless-steel fret wire, is a perfect solution to make up for the shortcoming of 304CU material, but due to its high stiffness, 316L stainless steel makes tools wear out faster than 304CU.
We primarily recommend it for high-end electric and bass guitars.
